Since past years food and sneakers design has developed a strong connection. Now we have so many possibilities that can satisfy all of our cravings whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner or even dessert.
It’s safe to say that food and sneakers are like a mariage made in heaven. Sneakers and glorious food! Whether you’re a pizza lover, burgers, pasta, salads or you’re on a diet, all humans need food to survive. But it’s not only about surviving, it is well known from decades that food brings people together. Every dinner has a story to tell, every delicious dish you’ve created brings back memories. Well, the same thing happens with sneakers.
The fact is, most of the people are passionate when it comes to sneakers. We wear or buy shoes because of the genuine love that we have for them. Or because we like a particulary color, siluette or just because the kicks has some emotional significance to you.
It’s quite obvious if you think about it. What other things are making people line up in front of stores like the opening of the latest hip restaurant or the release of a limited edition sneaker?
Several brands have seen the strong link between food and footwear design and decided to launch their own exclusive shoe lines. The beauty of the food sneaker is not only its challenging, but also its ability to spread love and affection for one’s favorite foods and brands.
Now let’s see some Sneakers inspired by Food!
1. Nike SB Dunk High “Chicken & Waffles”
The colorway and construction of the Dunk goes quite literal with the delicious inspiration, featuring a waffle textured upper with “dripping” syrupy Swooshes and a chicken and waffles graphic on the insoles.
2. Sneakerbox TLV x Le Coq Sportif LCS R800 “Hummus”
The upper is constructed using a variety of premium materials in colours, textures and tones that match the shades of a plate of hummus. Green, burgundy, and beige make up the upper, while each pair comes with three different colored laces (green, ochre, and paprika). The shoe comes in a special edition box and dust bag and features a co-branded logo on the midsole.
3. Saucony Shadow 6000 “Avocado Toast”
The healthy food-themed sneaker boasts what Saucony is calling a “toasted leather upper” that is paired with “smashed avocado textured suede” and a “red pepper flake collar lining.” The brand takes the theme further with the “Saucamole” branding on the heels and avocado imagery with the Saucony logo as the seed on the tongue and insole.
4. Alumni X FILA Overpass “Beef Patty”
Based on FILA’s Overpass runner, Alumni filled the silhouette with visual cues from the delicious Jamaican street food staple. The pigskin suede upper has the dark yellow glow of the beef patty pastry, while the toe box is embossed with indentations that resemble those that traditionally form the crust at the edges of the patty, locking in the filling as it bakes. The sole is a crisp white in honor of the fluffy white coco bread typically used to make the sandwich, and the brown leather insole features the two brands’ names alongside a beef patty logo.
5. The J.Crew x New Balance 997 “Butterscotch”
According to its creators, the “Butterscotch” 997 is inspired by “grandpa’s tastiest candy,” and features premium suede and leather uppers in creamy brown and beige tones that look tasty enough to eat.
6. Puma Suede “Ice Cream” Pack
The unisex offering includes three colorways of Puma’s classic Suede style — inspired by classic ice cream flavors such as French vanilla, butter pecan and chocolate deluxe.
7. Adidas Ultra boost “Pepperoni Pie Sneakers”
Pizza fans with tons of money on their hands can now vie for the chance to own a custom pair of pepperoni pie-inspired sneakers. The shoes are being sold as part of a special collaboration between Adidas and Refinery 29, wherein 11 female artists designed one-off footwear pairs representing all 50 states. These pizza kicks were created as a tribute to the great state of New Jersey.
